	- 2 original instruments (Wiener Mechanik) :&lt;br /&gt;
	Streicher 1819, 4 pedals, 6 Octaves, FF – f4&lt;br /&gt;
	Streicher 1841, 2 pedals, 6 ½ Octaves, CC – g4&lt;br /&gt;
	- a limit of 4 active participants&lt;br /&gt;
	- a limit of 10 passive participants&lt;br /&gt;
	- each active participant will have two hours of instruction&lt;br /&gt;
	- each active participant will have the possibility of practicing on the instruments outside of the course time, including on Nov. 25 a day before the course begins.&lt;br /&gt;
	Languages spoken: English, German, and French&lt;br /&gt;
	- The tentative schedule will be as follows:&lt;br /&gt;
	Nov 26 and 27 instruction in the afternoon,&amp;nbsp;possibility to practice in the mornings&amp;nbsp;one evening lecture and discussions with Alexander Langer&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
	&lt;strong&gt;- repertoire&lt;/strong&gt; for each participant will be limited to two works:&lt;br /&gt;
	one larger work (sonata, complete opus of smaller pieces, fantasie etc.)&amp;nbsp;and one small work (prelude, nocturne, bagatelle, impromptu, Klavierstück etc.)&lt;br /&gt;
	of Beethoven, Schubert, early Schumann (through op.17), Mendelssohn ( through op 53), Chopin ( through op. 38).&lt;br /&gt;

	&lt;span style=&quot;font-size:16px;&quot;&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Sally Sargent&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/span&gt;, pianist and teacher, was born in Philadelph ia, PA, USA, and received her first instruction in piano and harmony from her grandfather, the prominent American composer Theodore Chanler.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p style=&quot;text-align: justify;&quot;&gt;
	Her major teachers on piano included Rio Nardi (a pupil of Busoni) and Marcel Ciampi, and she was also a pupil of Nadia Boulanger.&lt;br /&gt;
	Ms. Sargent received a Bachelor of Music in piano performance from Ithaca College and a teaching certification from the Vienna Conservatory,&lt;br /&gt;
	and she later worked as an independent assistant to Paul Badura-Skoda when he was professor at the Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst.&lt;/p&gt;

	She continues to reside in Vienna, where she is a distinguished independent teacher of piano, interpretation, and harmony.&lt;br /&gt;
	She has given masterclasses and workshops on modern piano, romantic piano, fortepiano, and harpsichord, and has lectured widely on the history of piano playing.&lt;br /&gt;
	She is the author of the article “Touch (ii)” in the second edition of &lt;em&gt;The New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians.&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

	&lt;span style=&quot;font-size:16px;&quot;&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Alexander Langer&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/span&gt;, Klavierbaumeister,&lt;br /&gt;
	– 1946, born in Klagenfurt, Austria and grew up in a&lt;br /&gt;
	Klavierhaus, which his grandfather, Alois Langer, founded in 1896, the same year that the Streicher piano factory closed.&lt;br /&gt;
	For thirty years, (1960 – 1990) the Langer Klavierhaus was the probably only one to have a set of original etchings of the Streicher Piano Factory&lt;br /&gt;
	hanging on the walls of its showroom.&lt;br /&gt;
	-1962 – 1966 Alexander Langer studied piano-building at Stelzhammer’s in Vienna, one of the last hand-crafted production firms of its time.&lt;br /&gt;
	- from 1968 - worked in the family business.&lt;br /&gt;
	-1982 - passed his exam for the master craftsman’s diploma and took over the family business.&lt;br /&gt;
	-1987 - began collecting historical pianos and the technical literature pertaining to them&lt;br /&gt;
	-1991 –1992 - began restauration work on historical pianos specializing in Streicher pianos.&lt;br /&gt;
	- ca.1995 - began assembling data on the Streicher family and working on a book about this family of piano builders,&amp;nbsp; their&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; instruments and their ideas.&lt;br /&gt;
	- 2004- continues to bring together more and more “Streichern.”&lt;/p&gt;</description>
